Chapter 4

Here we are in chapter 4 learning about how to properly market using Facebook which was created by accident by Mark Zuckerberg in his college dorm at Harvard University. The first thing that needs to be done before properly marketing is to first understand how you can use Facebook for marketing. After that you then need to know how to effectively create an account that showcases you as well as what you are marketing for everyone to see. After you have created your page, you need to fill it up with content from your business but not too much that it will bombard people with a ton of things and confuse them. After you have content about your business on your page you need to start to gain some followers so people can actually see what you are and see what you are about. After you get an audience of followers built up you are ready for your post. You will need to post things regarding your business and its involvement in the community so the outside world can understand what you are and what you are all about. When posting on Facebook you need to post at a scheduled time where you receive that most likes, views and shares so more people can interact and see the content. When COVID-19 was bad Facebook became the only way, some people could stay in touch with friends and others while also creating a huge marketing platform because nobody was at work and lots of people had Facebook. This made it so people could do their jobs while not directly talking to people face to face.

The Transfer from Wapakoneta

Here we are in our last month of classes. After this month is over, we only have a few days in May to take our exams and then we are off on summer break. I will be spending my weeks leading up to these exams studying a lot so I can keep my grades up. We just started our second week of spring practices this week. Things are starting to come to me quicker as I am still learning all the tag words and signals but overall, it is going well. This week my family and I have been planning our vacation that we are taking this summer and needless to say I am ready for summer. How is everyone else’s life going?

The Transfer from Wapakoneta

Here we are another week down and things are still going well. We just got back from a nice surprise four day weekend because of snow. I spent my days from last Wednesday night to Saturday afternoon pushing and plowing snow from the cab of our skid loader. I plowed anywhere from 20-25 driveways during each day while pushing big industrial lots and gas stations in the nighttime. This left little time for sleep. Each day I was awake and pushing snow every morning by 4 a.m. and not being done until 9-10 p.m. in the evening. While I knew we were going to get some snow, but I was not totally sure how much we would be getting, I used my Facebook marketing knowledge to let the people know in my surrounding area that I would be cleaning driveways out for $25 a driveway. This led to people telling other people and the word got out and I got super busy. I was able to make quite a bit of money over this three day time period and help people of the community out. Did anyone else do anything o...

The Transfer from Wapakoneta

Here we are in our second to last week of classes and let me tell you the senioritis is coming back. My classes are starting to wind way down. Last week I only had class Monday and Tuesday because my classes got cancelled for the rest of the week. This made for really easy week sort of. When I say sort of, I mean I had to go home and help on the farm. We had some gorgeous days last week and the weekend. We started to get into the fields to start side dressing end rows with anhydrous. We apply the rest of the anhydrous when the crop has emerged from the ground because it is more effective. The reason we do the end rows before it is planted is because we do not want to run over as much corn. We also spread hog manure on our field that we were going to plant our hay crop on. We then planted that field after we finished spreading. We planted till about 12 a.m. until we ran out of seed. I will say that it was a relief that we ran out of seed, or we would have been planting all night long. T...
